- The Canadian Jewish Review was founded in 1921 in Toronto by George and Florence Cohen. It was published in English, and its approach was initially politically mild, moderately Zionist and religiously Reform, with a focus on the social achievements of local Jewry rather than on current events. The Canadian Jewish Review added a Montréal office and edition in 1929 to become a two-city weekly newspaper. In 1966, it merged with the Canadian Jewish Chronicle. Issues from 1921 to 1966 are available on the Internet Archive Canada website, with some years missing and other years lacking issues.
- Canadian Jewish News: On January 1, 1960, the first issue of the Canadian Jewish News, a weekly English-language newspaper, was published in Toronto by Meyer Joshua and Dorothy Nurenberger. In 1971, it was purchased by members of the former Canadian Jewish Congress, and it then adopted pro-Zionist views. The newspaper featured local Jewish community news and events, national and international news of interest to the community including news from Israel, contributions from correspondents in Jewish communities worldwide and editorials, in addition to lifestyle, arts, travel, business, sports and health features. It became Canada’s largest Jewish weekly newspaper. Issues of the Canadian Jewish News dating from 1960 to 1993 are available on the Internet Archive Canada website.
