Interesting archeological discoveries were made when the foundation for a new courthouse was excavated adjacent to Toronto City Hall. The findings included privies, the foundation of row houses built by former Afro American slaves during the 1800s, and other interesting objects left behind by the diverse inhabitants (Jews, Italians, Irish, Chinese) of the much maligned area once known as “The Ward”.
