This is a continuation of Trudy Gold’s lecture on the Expulsion of Jews from Spain and Portugal and their settlement in England.  This is a members only virtual event.

Wednesday 31 May 2023, 4-5 pm ET.          1750 – 1900. Integration or Assimilation and the Rise of Disraeli (Part 2)

The new Jewish merchants were too useful. As a reward, what was known as “The Jew Bill” was introduced in 1753 to allow them to be naturalised as British citizens. Reactions were varied and some preferred assimilation. This period included the incredible rise of Disraeli and his openness about his Judaic inheritance,

Then the Ashkenazim started to come…
