Jerry Scherer, the son of Holocaust survivors, was born in Siberia. After WWII, he and his parents spent three years in a displaced persons camp, housed in the former barracks of the Waffen-SS. They emigrated to Montreal in 1949. Jerry has a B.Sc. in Mathematics and Physics from McGill University and an M.Ed. in Measurement Evaluations and Computer Applications from the University of Toronto. He taught high school mathematics, physics, and computer science in Toronto. In his retirement, Jerry volunteers for the Jewish Genealogical Society of Toronto and is currently its Vice-President, Communications. He has conducted a vast amount of personal genealogical research, meeting with great success.
